Frequently Asked Questions
How often should the email server be updated for
spam and virus filtering?
We recommend at least once a month for spam and
daily for virus. Just like with station
anti-virus, if you miss an update, the station
is vulnerable. Depending on the situation
updates can be scheduled and applied in
different ways.
Will the current level of Internet access need
to change?
We recommend that your Internet access be
whatever speed level is appropriate for your LAN
and have at least one dedicated “Public IP”.
What is the installation cost?
Installation costs depend on the existing LAN.
Because of the dynamic nature of an email server
it must be configured for your LAN, type of
internet access and internet settings.
What is the cost to maintain the email server
with upgrades to defeat spam and virus threats?
On average an upgrade will take about one hour
(please see our service rates at
www.kleiber.com).
Due to the complicated nature and security risks
of improper email configuration, updates,
upgrades and patches, it is important that the
email server be maintained by a qualified
technician.
How does the cost of Kleiber’s email server
differ from the competitors?
Microsoft, Lotus Notes, Novell as well as
others, have excellent email server solutions.
Our competition is rather expensive, have user
license restrictions and don’t offer as many
features. While installation time depending on
the LAN is about the same for all email server
solutions, our email server is roughly 1/10th
the cost of Microsoft’s offering. We have NO
license fee limitations per user like Microsoft.
Will I experience any email down time?
We perform as much configuration and testing as
possible in our office to keep email downtime to
a minimum. Total email disruption is usually
about a half day. Depending on time intervals
for servers to update on the Internet and your
particular setup the down time varies.
Coordination is best done during a low work-load
time.
Can Email be accessed through a web browser?
A light based email interface is available for
users to access their email. Unlike their work
station email there are some file size
limitations.
Is additional desktop software needed to use the
Kleiber email server solution?
No, all email client applications are supported.
Spam & Anti-Virus
Filtering

Centralized Spam &
Anti-Virus filtering is
the best solution for
the stability of your
LAN and stations. Spam
and virus infected
emails are cleaned at
the email server instead
of the users station.

The email server
identifies the incoming
email as Spam, Virus,
html malicious code and
takes action. If the
email is Spam it is
marked as “spam”. If the
emails is a virus then
the virus is stripped
from the email and the
email is marked as once
having a virus.
Once the user accesses
their email any spam or
virus email has been
marked accordingly and
is benign as it arrives
at the users desk. If
the user has anti-virus
on their station then
the emails are scanned a
second time.
The users station is set
to filter all spam or
virus emails into
separate folders or send
directly to the deleted
items folder. This
entire procedure is done
in seconds.
FACT: Less than 1%
of all virus email can
be cleaned
For this reason
quarantine of infected
attachments is the best
alternative. For
legitimate attachments,
request that the sender
re-send the attachment
without viruses.

did have hidden within
some dangerous html
code.

Blocks & Removes Virus
emails
This Klez.H Worm was
removed at the email
server side before it
reached the station. The
user never has
capability to access
viruses in quarantine.

The above graphic
illustrates what the
user would receive after
an email has been
detected as a virus.
Users have the ability
to determine source of
the email which may be a
customer or business
associate to request a
virus free email.
